Dr. J. T. Edwards, who served as pastor of Culpeper Baptist Church in
the 1940s, answered God's call to serve seniors over 60 years ago through the founding of
the ministry of Virginia Baptist Homes. The Baptist General Association of Virginia voted
in 1945 to establish the ministry of Virginia Baptist Homes.

Today, four continuing care retirement communities in Culpeper, Newport News, Richmond, and
Roanoke serve more than 1,100 seniors. Amenities support and enhance the residents' bodies,
minds, and spirits. Wellness programming, lifelong learning, Bible studies, Vesper Services,
travel and volunteering in the local communities are among the opportunities pursued by residents.

Though each community is unique, one thing that is common among them is the feeling of family
and community that residents, their family members and the staff enjoy.
