Activities and Campus Programming

The concept of wellness at The Glebe covers a diverse array of daily activities and special events relating to all aspects of the state of being active in body, mind and spirit.

As a resident of The Glebe you can leave your car parked and walk through your neighborhood to join your neighbors in a variety of activities available in and around the Community Center. With a full calendar of on-campus programming from which to choose, you may wish to begin your day with daily coffee clatch in the Main Lobby then venture down the hall to the Exercise or Fitness Rooms where you may participate in yoga or Zumba classes, or receive instruction on the use of the state-of-the-art fitness machines, or you may opt to stroll through the daylilies surrounding the gazebo within site of the entrance portico.

In coordination with our Campus Programming office, residents have initiated many ongoing groups and classes such as The Glebe Singers, a woodworkers group, the Dot Leary Card Players, drawing and painting classes, the Jo Jester Book Group, Bible studies, Spinning Threads for the domestic arts, and Handicrafters, among many others. If you have a passion or a talent you’d like to exercise or share, you can find your niche here at The Glebe.

In addition to our daily fitness, games and arts, The Glebe brings entertaining and intellectual programming to your doorstep as well. Past programs have included nationally known speaker and humorist Jenny Herrick, local clergy leaders in an ecumenical symposium on Faithful Witness in the 21st Century, a kite science workshop led by past president of the American Kitefliers Association Gary Engvall, a presentation from St. Francis Service Dogs executive director Cabell Youell, and an art workshop for the non-artist taught by Hollins Professor of Art Nancy Dahlstrom. The Glebe also hosts traveling and local musicians, performers and lecturers on a regular basis.

If you’d like to participate in some of our daily programming to see for yourself the diversity and community within The Glebe, we encourage you to contact our marketing office for more information at (540)-591-2200.
