Katherine Payne Morris was born and raised in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. During high school, Katherine was a DJ on the local radio station. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and taught elementary and high school in Western Kentucky and Tennessee. As a young person, she spent many summers in Clifton Forge with her maternal grandparents, J.W.M. and Merle Paxton. Katherine married Jim Morris of Murray, Kentucky, presently a real estate broker, now retired from Hospital Corporation of America, Inc., and formerly President of Medicenters of America, Inc. Katherine and Jim lived in many different places during his career, including Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta, Fort Worth, San Francisco, Roanoke (two times), and Clearwater, Florida. Together, they helped develop three Assisted Living facilities in Kentucky and Tennessee. Katherine served as Corporate Marketing Director for American Health Centers, Inc. in Tennessee, and in 1999, she and her husband moved back to Roanoke and she served as Director of Ridgewood Gardens Assisted Living in Salem. Katherine has been the Director of Sales and Marketing for The Glebe since 2000, and is proud to have her Mother, Maybelle Payne, living at The Glebe. Her Mother in law Eva Morris was also a Glebe Resident until she passed away in 2007. The Morrises have one son, Keith, who is a diesel mechanic with Truck Enterprise, and one granddaughter Natalie. Katherine lists as her interests: snow skiing, reading, traveling, golf, needlework, cooking and music. She is a Sustaining member of the Junior League of the Roanoke Valley. She and Jim are both elders at Second Presbyterian Church and live in the South Roanoke neighborhood.
