Cliff Hammer moved to The Glebe a year ago from Florida and hasn’t looked back. On any given day, you can find him bringing residents together to play bocci ball, a community activity that he initiated, or sharing his vocal talents as part of The Glebe Singers.
Cliff also enjoys attending theater performances at Attic Productions, a playhouse located close to campus, and organizing fun dinner outings for residents. Yet, he is quick to boast about the great food served in The Glebe dining room.
Before living in Florida, Cliff was a farmer and realtor in the Roanoke Valley. When he decided to return to Virginia, The Glebe’s pastoral setting, gracious people, and continuum of care are what attracted him. He liked the fact that he could live independently and have all the benefits of The Glebe at his fingertips. Cliff knew he had made the right choice when he walked into the lobby for the first time and was greeted by our receptionist – a former real estate client he had enjoyed working with years earlier.
Residents are drawn to Cliff’s positive outlook and enthusiasm. And he offers this advice to retirees looking to make a move: “Don’t put off the joyful living you are going to have at The Glebe. Just get here.”
